Strength in Motherhood

Mamahood is a challenging journey. No matter what you face there will be times when you will doubt your strength. There will also be moments where you look back in awe at how you made it through.

The thing is, you are stronger than you think.

When we take that first step into motherhood, we unlock a strength within each of us. It doesn’t necessarily come in the form of confidence, it doesn’t mean you can juggle a million things in your life at once and it doesn’t necessarily mean keeping it together all the time. Strength will present itself in many different ways and be individual to each and every mother.

Sometimes strength is not in what you achieve but in your ability to ask for help, to make a decision despite others opinions, to stand up for what you believe. Undoubtably strength is following the path you choose and owning your own journey. You will always face adversity, but be confident in your own ability as a mother.

They say motherhood changes you. But perhaps it’s not so much a case of you changing, but rather discovering an inner strength you never knew you had. Discovering also a capacity to love and care beyond what you thought possible.

Sometimes we may not realise our strength until we are forced, tested and down to our last ounce of fight.

During those times when you doubt yourself, take a look back at what you have already achieved. Give yourself credit for how far you’ve come.

Being a mother is learning about strengths you didn’t know you had and dealing with fears you didn’t know existed ~ Linda Wooten

Motherhood is an amazing, rewarding role, but it’s not always the most glamorous of vocations by far. Dealing with sleepless nights, constant guesswork, relentlessly striving for routine, the monotony of daily activities that feel like ground hog day. But in all this “unglamorous” work is the caring, shaping and guiding of a beautiful life. The strength to give yourself every day, even when it feels like you don’t have much more to give.

So, when you have those moments of doubt, firstly stop and tell yourself as many times as you need to that you are a great mother. Remind yourself that you have the strength to achieve anything. Plus, the following tips may help you on your journey:

  • Learn to accept yourself
  • Learn to accept the things you cannot change
  • Cultivate a positive attitude even when times are challenging
  • Find the time to relax and focus on you
  • Surround yourself with people who treat you in the manner you deserve
  • Deal with each day on its own
  • Do what you love
  • Treat your body and mind with respect and care – that means regular bursts of “me time”
  • Use a daily affirmation to boost your focus and determination
  • Take a few moments each day to focus on your breath
  • Move a little bit each day
  • Have confidence in your own ability

This week we are offering both a heart opening yoga flow practice and a guided meditation to build inner strength ~ we’ll be sharing these soon! Head over to our Facebook page or Instagram to be notified when we go live.
