Live your life’s purpose

Everyone has a purpose in life, and within that purpose lays a unique talent just waiting to be expressed and shared with the world. If you’ve ever witnessed someone living their life’s purpose, it’s inspiring to see—they exude happiness. ~ Rachelle Williams (Chopra Center)

For mumpreneurs, it can be a hard slog. You’re not just dealing with the day to day challenges of running a business, you already have a full time job with the kids, you’re just trying to do both jobs at the same time.

For many of us it was when we had our children that our passions were sparked! What a wonderful opportunity to start a small business doing something you love, from the comfort of your own home. Decide your own schedule, work around the kids routine, be your own boss…and maybe, just maybe NOT have to return to your previous work.

Sounds awesome, right?!

The problem is, mum business or not, business is business. Regardless of when you do the admin, it needs to get done. The hours and expense are still there, however unfortunately your co-workers (aka kids) aren’t always as supportive as you’d hoped.

You put the hard yards in, you set the business up from scratch, you’re all good to go and….why aren’t the orders coming in? Why aren’t people engaged? What do you mean I need to post on social media 6 times a day?!!

Anyone who’s ever had a routine with their kids will tell you that there’s actually no such thing. Sure, you can set one, you can be super-frugelent-I-can-do-anything mum, and for the most part it may work. But it’s when you most desperately need that 2 hour nap that junior will suddenly decide it’s just not for him anymore.

And the nature of the beast changes.

Every. Single. Day.

So even when you do have a routine working, the next growth spurt kicks in and it’s back to square one.

The thing is, despite this daily battle and the frequent frustrations that go with the territory, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m doing what I love. I’m sharing what I’m passionate about. And I’m connecting with the most amazing people along the way.

In the midst of the seemingly despair, don’t lose sight of what you set out to achieve in the first place. Remember that passion, drive and enthusiasm that you started with. Dig down deep and draw it out.

Remember your dream.

Your kids will thank you for it. You know how they say that babies can sense your tension and they become tense, well the same works in reverse. Your children will feed off your passion and become passionate people themselves. They will appreciate you for doing what you love and thrive on the happiness that emanates from you.

Yes, at times it’s tough and you question whether it’s worth it or whether you should give up. But stay the course. You started for a reason, so don’t lose sight of that.

For those of you not living your life’s purpose, not driven by your passion, it’s never too late to start. It doesn’t have to be a business, it just has to be anything that drives you! And hey, if you figure out what you love and work out how to do that for a living, bonus!

The point is our dreams are special. They make us who we are.

If you can dream it, you can do it ~ Walt Disney

So, every now and again take a moment to drag yourself to the surface for a breath and take a peek at your dream.

It’s still there, waiting for you.
