Life After Baby with Meg Langton (Mega Mamma)

Life After Baby is a series to celebrate the journey of motherhood. To take an inside peak into the most memorable and vulnerable experiences we all share as mothers.

Meg Langton Mega Mama

Let us introduce you to this beautiful mama, Meg from Mega Mamma. A Melbourne mama now living in London, Meg is captivating others deep in the trenches of #mumlife.

Not afraid to call it like it is, Meg is always a breath of fresh air, sharing our love for coffee and vino!

We absolutely love reading about her adventures as a Melbourne mama living in London and today she’s sharing some of her mama journey with us. Dive in below.

Sum up in one sentence what it means to you to be a Mum

Forever needed and forever loving.

If you had to pick one, what’s been your most memorable experience as a Mum?

Most definitely the day Austin was born. The instant he came out there was a magic bond. Hubby and I had been in the delivery room as just two ordinary people moments before (aside from the whole labour thing that was going on, you know, no biggie) and then boom we were a family, just like that.

Share with us your most vulnerable mama moment

Ah, this would have to be a few weeks after we arrived in London all fresh and excited when Austin went through a massive sleep regression. I’m talking up all night, crying and upset, needing to be walked to sleep at 4am (yep, through the streets of London people) and then after all of the fuss of getting him to sleep he would wake up after 20 minutes. Normally I would say I’m a pretty ‘can-do’ kind of person but I need a lot of sleep to function so after three weeks of this madness I was at breaking point (actually I probably felt pretty damn broken by then). We did finally get him back in to a rhythm, and oh boy you appreciate the good times about 100 times more after going through those hellish few weeks.

What’s one thing you have learnt about yourself you didn’t know before becoming a mama?

I never knew how strong a mama’s love can be. I would give anything for my little man to make sure he is loved and happy in life, such an amazingly special bond between mama and child.

How do you define balance?

Balance is doing the best you can with limited time.

I secretly wish I could…go travelling for months on end with toddler in tow (but in this fantasy he is super well behaved and it all goes off without a hitch – yeah right!)
I combat self doubt and overwhelm by… tackling tasks one at a time. Sometimes being able to get just one thing done, even if you’re not feeling your usual superstar self is enough momentum to get you going for the rest of the day.
I’m most inspired by… families with more than one kid. One by itself is a mountain of work so I’m always impressed by families with two or three or four. Hats off to you!
My current affirmation/mantra is… make the most of the moment
My yoga practice is… almost non-existent (naughty me!). I’ve just started making it a priority to find some ‘me’ time each week so yoga, pilates, dance cardio here I come.

What’s your one parting piece of guidance for the mama tribe?

Mamahood can test you like nothing else in life but it is all 110% worth it (poo-plosions and sleepless nights included).
